The Fresno County Regional Enterprise Zone (EZ) Tax Credit was established by the State of California to provide businesses the opportunity to create additional jobs, access more resources, and increase overall profitability through tax savings.

Challenge

The challenge was to take the existing paper filing process and create an easy to use website in which employers could apply for tax deductions. Another issue was to create the ability for business consultants to have access to business these accounts to assist with the filing process. An additional challenge was to give the ability to have an e-commerce portal for the processing fees for each employee in the system.

Solution

Digital Attic created an online address verification form which verified that the business addresses were located within the eligible locations in the county to be able to apply for these tax deductions. After the completion of the form with a verified business address located within the zone, a business could create an online account. This process lowered the amount of confusion in verifying the business addresses. After the account was created the employer could add eligible employees to the system and request tax vouchers. Once the tax vouchers were submitted there is an instant alert sent to the vouchering agents to review these online documents. The agent could approve the voucher or deny the voucher and another instant alert was sent to the business. This online application and web portal includes backend statistics tracking, reports, and dashboard views for both the administrators of the system and the individual businesses.
